Getting up in the morning

So you’ve pushed the snooze button on your alarm a few times since it’s still dark outside despite the fact that it’s about 8 a.m. I envy you if you aren’t like me and get up straight away. But, in any case, here is a basic morning ritual to help you get through the chilly mornings in December.

Stretch – When you first wake up, do a short stretch to wake up the rest of your body.

Fluffy socks or slippers – to keep those feet toasty, throw on some fluffy socks or slippers. With the fluffy socks, a small trick I’ve learned is to keep them under your pillow so they’re warm when you put them on in the morning.

Warmest jumper or dressing gown – put on your warmest jumper or dressing gown so you don’t feel the chilly air and want to get back into bed.

When you’ve gotten out of bed,

Drink a glass of water first thing in the morning – water is good for the body.

Prepare yourself a hot beverage – obviously, if you don’t have a hot beverage, make whatever beverage you like in the morning. The lemon water is said to be a wonderful way to start the day.

Make a substantial, filling breakfast – a nice hearty, filling breakfast will set you up for the day and give you plenty of energy.

Morning pages / to-do list – jot down everything you need to accomplish that day to know what you want to do. Also, in your favorite notebook, jot down some morning meditation pages.

Take your dog for a walk (if you have one) – walk your dog, feed your dog, and any other pets you have.

Getting ready for the day

Shower (if you water in the morning) – don’t make the shower too hot; it may feel good since it’s chilly outside. That may make you drowsy, so simply give yourself a short body wash to be ready for the day, particularly if you went for a stroll.

Wash your face and do your face routine – a clean face will undoubtedly wake you up and prepare you for the day ahead.

Open the curtains – don’t keep them closed all day; it may be gloomy in the morning, but that simply means you’ll be able to see the dawn.

Plan your meals for the day – if you don’t know what you’ll be eating for the day, sit down and make a plan so you know what you’ll need. You may even prepare the meal ahead of time to save time while listening to your favorite Christmas music.

Starting at the beginning

Turn on/off Christmas lights – Depending on when you want your Christmas lights to be on, you may either turn them off from the night before or turn on particular ones to enjoy throughout the day.

Put on your clothing of the day – if you haven’t already, check the weather forecast for the day and dress accordingly. During the winter, we mainly live in large, puffy sweaters.

Get everything done – all of the tasks you need to do for the day. We prefer to vacuum once a day to pick up any Christmas tree needles that have fallen over night. The sooner you start, the better, since you’ll be able to relax for the remainder of the day.

Taking a breather

Comfortable clothing – after a full day of duties and evening preparations (meals, etc. ), change into some comfortable clothing to help you wind down and relax.

Make yourself a hot drink and a little snack to enjoy as you begin to prepare for the evening ahead.

Start supper – once dinner is ready, you may sit back and relax for the duration of the cooking process.

WINE TIME – To really unwind for the evening, treat yourself to a glass of wine or other beverage of your choosing.

Put on a movie – as you enjoy your glass of wine and cook, turn on your favorite Christmas film.

Christmas Lights – turn on all of your Christmas lights throughout your home to create your own winter paradise.

Light candles – right before going to bed, after you’ve eaten and cleaned, light some Christmas scented candles to make your home smell festive.

Bathe – soak in a soothing bath with bubble bath and fragrant candles. In the bath, you might watch a movie, read a Christmas book, or listen to Christmas music.

Pampering session – after a soothing bath, put on a facemask and relax in your dressing robe or pjs. You may even treat yourself to a pedicure to make your toes appear festive.

Sleep — after a busy day, you owe it to yourself to get some well-deserved rest. You’ve gotten your 8 hours of sleep, and you’re feeling calm and ready for the following day.
